Accessibility - Section 508.1 and WCAG

In an effort to accommodate as many different types of users and music lovers as possible, this site has long been at least partially compliant with the standards of Section 508.1 of the Amended Federal Rehabilition Act outlining Internet Accessibility for Disabled Users, and many of the WCAG (Web Content Accessbility Guidelines) standards. The site was further upgraded to improve this compliance in 2015, which is voluntary on our part but recognized as a benefit to most. It is also XHTML and HTML5/CSS3 compliant which increases the usability and consistency between various browser types.

The following items have been designed for compliance:

• <alt> tags have been applied to as many relevant images as possible
• Tool-tip <title> tags have been applied to as many relevant links and images as possible
• More style sheets have been applied and many items in the HTML5 code have been trimmed to speed loading and cut down text-reader errors
• Tables have been redesigned for better compliance and formatting
• Multiple methods of delineating standout items and links have been employed to aid those who are colorblind

This is an ongoing effort as of 2015, and as pages or file groups are upgraded more compliance will be put in place, although not at the expense of logical presentation, as both can be accommodated with proper design. Our goal is to make sure that people of all abilities or disabilities can enjoy the music and information available on this site with minimal difficulty or confusion.

This is a one person operation, and there are over 7,000 individual files on this site, over 2,800 of them content. While the years invested in it have been well spent and directed towards these goals of accessibility, things can get missed. Your input is helpful in this regard, and will be regarded and responded to.
