DVD-R/DVD+R

Acronym for Digital Versatile Disc Recordable, a digital storage medium the size of a compact disc that can be recorded onto one time with audio, video or data, such as MP3 files. You can use a computer DVD recorder for data and music, and some more advanced units to store synchronized digital audio and video. Music can be stored in the form of Wave or MP3 files, or part of a video soundtrack on multiple channels. Maximum storage time is largely dependant on the resolution or overall quality of the data being stored, with higher resolutions yielding smaller storage times. The DVD-R has less resolution capability than the DVD+R, which yields better results at lower resolutions. Maximum storage time is typically 240 minutes for video or 4.7 gb for data on single-layer discs, and double that on multi-layer discs.
